University of San Francisco’s Museum Studies faculty, alumni and students wish you health and happiness in 2016. Here are some local museum events we look forward to in the coming year:
January 7: VIP Nightlife tours for 2016 begin at the California Academy of Sciences.
January 16: 500 Capp Street opening celebrations.
January 26: Classes start. A special welcome to our new faculty members: Chris Alexander, Steven Tulsky, Sheila Pressley, Emily Jennings and Sherri Nevins.
January 30: The Bay Bridge lights are permanently installed!
January 31: Grand re-opening of the Berkeley Art Museum.
February 1: Application Deadline for the entering class of Fall 2016.
February 11: Artist James Luna performs at the closing event for Interwoven: Indigenous Contemporary at University of San Francisco’s Thacher Gallery.
February 14: Lunar Year: Year of the Monkey celebrations at Oakland Museum of California.
March 7: ADJACENT SHORES: Hughen/Starkweather opens at Thacher Gallery, curated by USF Museum Studies graduate student Nell Herbert.
March 12: Oscar de la Renta: The Retrospective opens at the deYoung Museum.
May 14: Grand opening of the 235,000 square foot new San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
June 17: Emperors’ Treasures: Chinese Art from the National Palace, Taipei opens at the Asian Art Museum.
